This week has been very, very long. I have not really felt much like being on the computer. A little blue perhaps. I have read 3(?) books this week, but a couple went really fast. Finished No Direction Home by Marisa Silver, read The Sari Shop by Rupa Bajwa on Tuesday and Wednesday and The Key and part of Diary of a Mad Old Man by Tanizaki yesterday and today. All kind of depressing. The futility of caring. Hidden and not so hidden betrayals and all that. humph

Also feeling the money pinch. Altho…and I know this is sad…I just saved a bunch of money on car insurance by switching…You know the rest…It was way too much difference not to change companies. About a third. When I called the company that we did have to ask how much more we needed to pay on the house insurance to cover because we don’t have a muliti-line anymore, the lady I talked to asked me to fax a copy of the new policy so that she could send it to the home office to show them that they need to do something about their rates.

MDH mostlymaylone has been off this past couple of days doing appointments and buying clothes and having minor bookstore accidents. After I talked to him today while I was at work and he was out, I read my horror-scope: You might want to take charge of your finances before your checkbook goes in the red…Tonight: pay attention to the bill.
I was frightened, but it wasn’t too bad. AND he made dinner! Woo-hoo!!

On the subject of dinner…MDH’s post of May 9, “Melissa made quiche for dinner. I don’t know why, but I can eat hers without wanting to vomit. It’s very strange. Normally quiche is one of those foods that sets my gag reflex in motion.” Just the words every wife waits to hear. “Honey, your food doesn’t make me barf.” *Laugh* Oh well. I know what he means. I watched his face the first bite he ever had my quiche. It was a very squished, childlike, I’m-not-gonna-like-it,-but-mom-said-I-had-to-try-it face. He is generally a good little Guinea Pig. And he now buys raw spinach ON HIS OWN. Cool. 🙂

And I actually made quiche, and cheesecake and boiled eggs that night. I had a couple of grocery store accidents. I bought a dozen and a half eggs dated May 8. I knew I wanted to make a cheesecake and I need 6 eggs for that. Then, when I went to Fred Meyer last week, they had the 18 egg packs dated May 8 for $1.50. That’s CHEAP! So Then, we went to FM last weekend to look for a couple more pillows for the back of the window seat which is under construction, and they had Dozen eggs for $.79. SUPA CHEAP. So I had about 50 eggs in the fridge. Dat’s a lotta eggs. But I used all the ones that I had to so salright.

Durnit, there were other things I was gonna talk about…Poof…they are gone. It is because they are playing the Grateful Dead on this station right now…

Off to see what time Dr. Who comes on…
