in which several people are correct

Yes, Pat’s boss was right, as were Catie and various others.

On a much smaller scale than in the past, but still. Pat is finishing the ceiling in the bathroom. Texturing is almost done, then we can prime and paint and voila…
I think I have found the correct colors to do the effect I want. There is a picture of my dad that the background is the tree line in front of my parent’s house. The sun is shining through the birch leaves, so I am going to try to do that. Found a very pale yellow for the base, then will rag on a brighter yellow, then a silvery gray green, then a darker green. Hopefully, it will give a suggestion of sun-through-leaves, and not just look like blobs. Oh well, that is what Kilz is for. To cover up stains and dark colored eww-boos.
We will make a plexi wall to go above the soffit so that the bathroom and the bedroom are actually separated (the fan will suck the shower moisture out much more effectively that way)and give it a similar treatment, so that the skylight will make sun-through-leaves light in the bedroom. Pat suggested retiling the floor with a “garden path”. Home Depot had stone-look vinyl tiles and some green marble that looked sort of grass like, so we could. but I am not expending that much more effort and money on this house. I had a big vision of making the shower stall look like a tree trunk, silk ivy hanging, the whole nine yards. Step into the bathroom and outside into the woods. 🙂 I still may try it at some point, but there are other things I want to do, and right now I will settle for functional.

Went shopping all day Saturday. To breakfast with Pat at about 8:30, dropped him back at home, then to Joann Fabrics, where I found McCalls patterns on sale for 1.99 ea. Bought fabric for a quilted diaper bag and a set of place mats for a sister-in-law. Pat laughed when I brought home patterns. I usually don’t bother with them. Especially for something like a bag. Especially since I have designed and made several of my own. Maybe that was silly. But $1.99!!! for patterns!!!! they cost normally upwards of $15!!!!!!
And man-oh-man have the ren faire costume patterns gotten better. When I started (back in 1991) the best you could do was altering a wedding dress pattern. Now they have “historic detail” and everything. The name on them I think is the woman who has written about a million pattern books of various periods (some of her patterns were made from clothing that was on bodies in a renaissance church in England that they were restoring). V coool.
Went to Burlington and then home, then up to the co-worker’s to check on the kitties, then Wal-mart and Home depot and Fred Meyer and the video store and and and. Didn’t get home until about 8 in the evening.
My feet felt amazingly decent when I got up yesterday (used a peppermint mask on them when I got home), but I made the mistake of putting on the same tennis shoes that I had worn Saturday to go out in. I ought to know by now that I need to switch shoes if my feet are sore. Made it partway through the first store before I was in actual pain as opposed to discomfort. By the third store, I was leaning on Pat to walk in and using a cart as a walker inside. After the fifth store (btw, rei up here has no elevator that I saw) I was in a LOT of pain. So after asking at Title Wave after “Cardinal Rule” I was ready to leave. That is unheard of for me. I can loose 6 hours easily in there. The shoes came off as soon as I got in the car. Stoopid. Wear the heaviest shoes you own for a second day of walking. Bah.
Now, we’re officially on vacation for two whole days. 🙂 I even slept in today. 8:20. 🙂

  1. You’re likely to have to get CARDINAL RULE through one of Amazon’s used book sellers. Title Wave doesn’t carry series romance at all, and B&N/Borders can’t get it anymore, apparently. Just FYI.
