Sweet and Tart Marinade

I made this up in high school after watching my mom waste a LOT of ingredients trying to make a teriyaki sauce. Which was TERRIBLE and I made her dump before I pushed her aside.

Sweet and Tart Marinade Recipe

  • YIELD: 6 breasts (6 Servings)

I made this up in high school after watching my mom waste a LOT of ingredients trying to make a teriyaki sauce. Which was TERRIBLE and I made her dump before I pushed her aside.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 TB liquid smoke
  • 20 oz crushed pineapple fruit and juice
  • 1 TB white vinegar (I might do rice wine vinegar next time I make this)
  • 1 TB red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 TB soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 TB garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup flour

Instructions

  1. Mix all except flour in a large container
  2. Marinade 6 boneless skinless chicken breasts in the mixture for at least 6 hours
  3. Grill the chicken over a low flame until just under done. While it is cooking, simmer the marinade on the stove, adding flour to thicken.
  4. Place the chicken in a shallow pan and pour the thickened sauce over it. Bake at 300° for 15 minutes.
